Baiyun Mountain ~ Cloud Mountain

Well this morning started out like any other morning, but ended up different. We are usually ready to walk the Island or something beside sitting in our hotel room. But after we got back to the hotel we were all ready just lay around and do nothing. Go figure that out. Today we were scheduled to go the Baiyun Mountain, if I am not mistaken it is one of the largest or the largest mountain in Guangzhou. Today was the first day to tour with the "H" family. We were very excited to get to know the "H" family and have some fun with their kids. We had three options to get to the top of the mountain. We chose two of them, we would start by taking a Cable Car up and then taking a golf cart down. The third choice was walking all the way to the top, which Rebecca said it would take 2 hours each way. She also said out of the 10 years she has done tours for the mountain she had never had anyone say "Rebecca would it be ok if we just walked it?" We were not about to be the first. All 10 of us loaded into one Cable Car and up we went.

This is a picture of us in the Cable Car.

This is a picture of a Middle School that was on the side of the mountain. This puts our schools to shame, yet we also don't have 9 million people living in one city.
Ok now we are at the top of the mountain. If you can prove it the Chinese characters behind us say "Top of Mountain", Rebecca told us so. The greenery and flowers were as usual beautiful. Rebecca said that alot of the people of Guangzhou use this mountain for exercise. They walk to the top and then play games, like hackie sack, and then walk down. Rebecca also told us that it is very expensive to do this. It cost $15.00 American dollars. This has been the most expensive tour we have been on, yet it was very worth it. The only thing that would have been better is that is was so hazy we could not see the city of Guangzhou, which I am sure would have been beautiful.
We then caught a bird show, where many birds did many different tricks for us. They call this part the Bird Nest, the show was really neat but the best part was the end. Not because it was over but because the trained the birds to fly out to the audience and grab money out of your hand. All you had to do was hold it up and it fly over and get it. Rebecca told us to get out 1 yuan and hold it up. We did and the bird never came over to us, Rebecca then said the reason is, because the bird can tell that it is 1 yuan, and the other people had 10 yuan (about $1.30). We then switched the bill and sure enough the bird came over grabbed the money from Kambry's hand and was off again. What we didn't know is that the bird would land on your hand, Kambry did really well, but had her eyes closed the whole entire time. The "H" family wanted to try it also and their little girl held up and we caught a picture of it. Check out her face.....

We then continued into the rest of the bird nest, and checked out the birds in the bird sanctuary. There was many different one, including pigeons, ducks, supposedly a swan (we never saw it), many different types of birds that I didn't know the name of them and last but not least the peacock. Two of them up in a tree. We did not stay very long, because we were getting very hot, why you ask? Rebecca told us that the mosquito's were really bad there, and she recommended for us to wear long sleeve shirts. We all got so hot and I never felt one mosquito. I guess we had a lucky day.

This is the view from the top of the mountain, believe it or not, the city of Guangzhou is in the picture. I can't imagine what it would like with a sunny view. We still had a wonderful time with the "H" family and enjoyed the company. There little kids are so cute and always have a sweet personalities.

This is all of us at the top of the mountain, Kambry wanted to hide I guess, but I have a really cute picture of her later on this next.

Is this not precious...... Kambry sharing her cherrios. The little boy and girl are the children of the "H" family. The adopted the little boy this trip. Is this not cute. Please pray for Kambry, for we feel she is getting sick. Connie already started the antibiotic, and hopefully she will feel better tomorrow. Especially since we are going to an children amusement park, and yes I am her riding buddy.

Now an update on the real reason we came ~ Kaeleb. Kaeleb is doing really good, he seems to only wants Connie and he does reach for her. He is doing really well with the "ugly snuggli", he doesn't cry when he is put in it, in fact he reaches for her even when she has it on and goes in with no troubles. He is sleeping all night long, and is getting better when he wakes up. He waves "Hello" and "Bye" and every once in awhile he will blow a kiss. He sat in a high chair for about 10 minutes today, progress progress, progress. He has come along way since they received him and I think that he is warming up to Clayton and Connie each and every moment of the day. He is walking a little better, when they first got him he walked like he was still learning, which is highly possible. He is eating congee (rice cooked into is pretty much nothing), mashed potatoes, oatmeal and noodles and still loves his bottle. He is still not chewing, but give him time, that will come soon. Well we are all very homesick and miss everyone at home. We love hearing from you, it keeps us close to home. Thank you for your prayers and checking our blog every day. We love you and look forward to seeing you soon. Love, April, Connie, Clayton, Kambry and Kaeleb.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.

Hi April...
You can't imagine how much I have enjoyed your pictures and journaling. China is really a beautiful county! I was especially interested that you were able to go to a Christian church...how awesome is that!! Our God is awesome!!
I can imagine that you are getting home sick....and I bet everyone is homesick for YOU!! I wish I could be there to welcome you back.
I will be keeping Kambry in prayer to be feeling better. There's just to many fun things to do without having to be sick. God bless you and the Clayton's family. You are a true loving and faithful friend, April. Love you. Aunt Joanne
